Keyboard shortcuts are combinations of two or more keys that, when pressed, can be used to perform a task that would typically require a mouse or other pointing device. Keyboard shortcuts can make it easier to interact with your computer, saving you time and effort as you work with Windows and other programs.<\/p>\n<p>There are a number of keyboard combinations that are widely known and used, such as:<\/p>\n<table width=\"400\" border=\"1\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"2\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"200\">F1<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"200\">Display Help<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"200\">Ctrl + C<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"200\">Copy<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"200\">Ctrl + X<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"200\">Cut<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"200\">Ctrl + V<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"200\">Paste<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>There are a large number of other keyboard shortcuts less commonly known, that are available in Windows, and many of the programs that run in windows.<\/p>\n<p>In this short article we&#8217;ll look at the general the use of the Function keys found at the top of the keyboard.<\/p>\n<table width=\"589\" border=\"1\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"2\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"86\">F1<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"501\">As already identified this is used to provide the Help function for the system<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"86\">F2<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"501\">This option allows renaming of a selected item, for example open Windows explorer (the file management tool), use the mouse to click on a filename, the file will be highlighted, now press the F2 key and the filename can be edited.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"86\">F3<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"501\">Search for a file or a folder. This key is active in Windows Explorer or the desktop.<br \/>\nFrom the desktop press F3, a search window opens, enter the search tem in the search ox at the top right of the window.<br \/>\nFrom Windows explorer the search box is highlighted at the top right, enter the search term.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"86\">F6<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"501\">This cycles through the screen elements in a window or on the desktop.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"86\">F10<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"501\">Activates the menu bar in the active program, or shows the shortcut key presses to individual commands.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Back with more useful shortcuts soon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Like it\u2019s predecessors, Widows 7 has a number of keyboard shortcuts built in to increase productivity.
