Maybe there is a requirements to have the current data or time displayed automatically in a cell every time formulas are recalculated. There are several ways to insert the current date and time in a cell.<\/p>\n<h2>Insert a Static Date or Time<\/h2>\n<p>A static value in a worksheet remains constant when the worksheet is recalculated or opened. Excel can insert the current data or time as a static value in a call, in order to do this Excel \u201ctakes a snapshot\u201d of the current date and then inserts the value in the cell. That cell\u2019s value doesn\u2019t change, so it\u2019s considered static.<\/p>\n<p>The following key combinations allow inserting of the current date and time<\/p>\n<table cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"2\" width=\"600\" border=\"1\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"300\">Insert current date<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"300\">Ctrl + ; (semi-colon)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"300\">Insert current time<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"300\">Ctrl + Shift + ; (semi-colon)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"300\">Insert current date and time<\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"300\">Ctrl + ; (semi-colon) then by Space Bar, then Ctrl + Shift + ; (semi-colon)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h2>Insert an Updating Date or Time<\/h2>\n<p>A dynamic value is one where the value is recalculated or updated when the worksheet is recalculated or opened. Cells that contain these functions are not updated continuously.
